I’m not sure exactly how many weeks it’s been since school has been out (my guess is 2 years now?) but i am running out of things to keep my preschooler busy.

The ice cream man has been going down our street almost every night & it made me think i needed to make a fun ice cream themed game! It is almost summer after all. This  fun, easy, DIY Popsicle matching game is so simple my 4 year old was able to help! Matching games improve concentration, train visual memory, increase short term memory, increase attention to detail and improve vocabulary! Apart from all of this it is a great opportunity for some quality bonding time with your child.

My Daughter has asked to play this every day since we have made it and tells everyone how she made her very own game! I love the confidence it has given her!

Ok, Let’s get to it!

What you will need:

I’ve been trying to be more mindful about using the craft supplies i already have on hand and this craft is the perfect use of things you probably have lying around your house already!

First:

Cut your base color into 20 Popsicle shapes. (This will use about 1 1/2 12 x 12 pages of card stock)

Then cut two Popsicle shapes of each color. 20 total

I used my Cricut to cut these out but you can easily cut these with scissors aswell.

Second:

Glue the back side of your base color and one of the other colors

Finally:

Place the Popsicle stick in the middle of one side and sandwich the two sides together.

WAH LAH!

You now have a fun learning activity your kids will love!

I hope you have fun making this DIY Popsicle matching game with your kiddos as much as i did!

Katelyn
